Episode13. No More Mr. Dumb Guy シーン③
＜登場人物＞
- D.J.（ディージェー）：タナ―家の長女。しっかりしたお姉ちゃん。
- Stephanie（ステファニー）：タナ―家の次女。いたずらっ子。
- Michelle（ミシェル）：タナ―家の３女。まだ赤ちゃんながら口が達者なところも。
- Joey（ジョーイ）：タナ―家に居候中。陽気なキャラクター。
DJ: Hey, Joey. What’s for dinner?
Joey: Thin strands of pasta with petite spears of beef in a light tomato sauce.
DJ and Stephanie: Spaghetti again?
Michelle: Mmm, basketti.
Joey: No, Michelle, that’s spaghetti.
Michelle: That what I said, basketti.
Stephanie: Want to play Michelle-a-phone?
DJ: What’s that?
Stephanie: It’s when you whisper something in Michelle’s ear and laugh when it comes out of her mouth. Watch. (Whispers to Michelle)
Michelle: You got chicken legs.
DJ: Let me try that.(Whispers to Michelle)
Michelle: You’re a cheesehead.
Stephanie:（Whispers to Michelle)
Michelle: How rude!
スパゲッティのこと、ちゃんとスパゲッティって言うんだ～と思った思い出。
発音も日本語のスパゲッティとほぼ一緒かな？もしくは、若干「スパゲリィ」に近いと思います。
単語やおもしろ表現
- strand: 要素、成分。thin strands of pastaで要するに細いパスタって意味だと思います
（辞書探したけど、これだというものがなかった） - petite: 小さい
- spear: 槍、突き刺す。
petite spears of beef in light tomato sauceで何となくミートソースっぽいですよね。ジョーイの言葉遊びかな？
今回のシーンは、何と言ってもミシェル電話が面白いです。
でも、子どもの言葉なので正確な意味はよくわかりません。ただわかるのは、言われた相手の気分を害することだけ（笑）
